About Rachel

Rachel is the founder and principal therapist at Reprocess Traumatic Stress Clinic.

Originally from the UK, she completed her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Royal Holloway, University of London in 2009. Early in her career she specialised in complex traumatic stress, working in community mental health teams within the public health system. During her time in the NHS, she supported people experiencing severe mental health difficulties, including psychosis and dissociative disorders, and later worked in a national traumatic stress clinic providing trauma-focused therapy to individuals affected by a wide range of traumatic experiences.

After moving to Australia in 2013, Rachel provided therapy for asylum seekers through Foundation House and worked at Phoenix Australia, Centre for Posttraumatic Mental Health, where she project-managed clinical trials investigating treatments for trauma survivors. In 2015 she completed a PhD at Swinburne University of Technology examining trauma-focused therapies for people experiencing psychosis following trauma — an area she remains deeply committed to advancing.

She later took up an academic role at the University of the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, teaching and supervising postgraduate psychology students.

Rachel is a strong believer in the possibility of recovery and growth following trauma. Her approach focuses on making evidence-based therapies accessible, collaborative, and tailored to each person’s needs. She has done additional training in:

  • Cognitive Therapy for PTSD (Oxford Cognitive Therapy Centre)

  • Prolonged Exposure Therapy (Phoenix Australia)

  • EMDR (EMDR Association of Australia accredited training, part I)

  • STAIR – Skills Training in Affective and Interpersonal Regulation (US VA National Center for PTSD)

  • Reconsolidation Therapy (Thompson Institute, University of the Sunshine Coast)

Rachel works collaboratively with clients to select the most appropriate approach for their goals and circumstances. She brings warmth, compassion, and gentle humour (when helpful), recognising that a strong, trusting therapeutic relationship is the foundation of effective therapy.

Outside work, Rachel loves to spend time by or in the ocean or having cuddles with her Groodle puppy - Griffin.
